TallyPrime training in Tanzania: options for owners, accountants and staff
Free TallyPrime training from Powercomputers, basic or advanced, at our office, at yours or online, plus Tally’s own learning resources, and what each person in your team should learn.
Training options with Powercomputers
Powercomputers runs free, practical TallyPrime training at two levels, basic and advanced. You choose where it happens: in-house at Powercomputers’ office, on-site at your premises, or remotely online.
Training works best when it’s built around the people who’ll use TallyPrime and what they do each day. When you register on the Free Demo & Training page, tell us what you’d like to cover, for example inventory, VAT invoices, reports or bank reconciliation, and we’ll focus the session on that.
Owners and managers: reading the business
Most owners don’t need to enter vouchers. What pays off is knowing how to read the reports TallyPrime builds from them: the Balance Sheet for your position on any date, the Profit & Loss account for a period, Cash Flow, Ratio Analysis, and outstanding receivables and payables so you can see who owes you and whom you owe. From a report you can drill down to the transactions behind a figure.
Owners should also learn the controls: how users are created for each role, who can see what, and who gets browser or remote access. With an active TSS, browser reports let you check figures from a phone without TallyPrime installed on it.
Accountants: vouchers, banking and month end
Accountants need the full set of accounting vouchers and their keys: Payment (F5), Receipt (F6), Contra (F4), Sales (F8), Purchase, Journal (F7), and Debit and Credit Notes. Then the books that check them: the Day Book, Trial Balance, and the Cash and Bank Books.
Bank reconciliation is worth a session of its own. You can reconcile manually by entering the bank date against each transaction, or import a bank statement in Excel, CSV or MT940 format and reconcile automatically, where your bank is supported for statement import. Once the basics are in place, cost centres, budgets and importing masters and transactions from Excel are good advanced topics.
Sales, stores and data-entry staff
Sales staff mainly need to raise sales invoices correctly and pick the right customer and stock item. If you use Power VFD, they should also see how a TallyPrime sales invoice becomes a TRA invoice.
Store staff should learn stock items and units of measure, godowns, batches with manufacturing and expiry dates where you track them, reorder levels, and the Stock Summary. In a factory, add the bill of materials, which lists the raw materials and components each finished item uses. Keeping each person’s training to their own screens makes it easier to learn and easier to set user rights later.
Tally’s own learning resources
Between sessions, Tally Help (help.tallysolutions.com) has step-by-step guides to TallyPrime’s features, and the TallyPrime Learning Hub on tallysolutions.com has videos grouped by topic, including getting started, billing and invoicing, inventory, banking and reporting. Some videos cover Indian tax features that don’t apply in Tanzania, so stick to the general topics.
Tally also runs TallyEducation, which offers TallyPrime certification online and through authorised learning centres. Its programmes are written for the Indian job market, so check what applies to you before enrolling. For running your own business on TallyPrime, training on your own data usually teaches more.
Making training stick
Start with basic training before go-live, so people learn on the screens and masters they’ll actually use, then book advanced sessions once the team is entering data confidently. When you upgrade to a new release or bring in new staff, a short refresher saves mistakes later.
Powercomputers has been a Tally partner in Tanzania since 2004. Alongside training, we provide day-to-day support with technical issues and accounting errors after you’re live. Register for free training or book a free demo on the Free Demo & Training page.
